On the 19th of July, the second of a sequence of "Moral Mondays" protests by the Poor People's Campaign included a major civil disobedience and dozens of arrests at a blockade on 1st st NE by the US Capitol. Demands included an end to the filibuster, full restoration of the 1965 Voting Rights act, new Federal voting rights legislation, and an increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
This entirely nonviolent civil disobedience was quite the contrast to the brutal battles fought around and inside the Capitol on Jan 6. If the purpose of this civil disobedience is not achieved however, it is likely that Trump will again attempt to steal an election in 2024, and the violence of the Proud Boys could well return. Without voting rights protections, enough people of color will be deterred or prevented from voting from voting to put the Trumpist wing of the GOP inside cheating range of winning almost everything.
